We’ve been asked a lot where our favorite places are to shoot, and there really are so many for so many different reasons! While we know we haven’t shot everywhere in the Toledo area, we have done quite a few weddings and have some places that are near and dear to us. And some locations that we’re really excited about exploring! So here it is…our official list of our favorites and why they are so awesome!
This is probably the venue that we shoot at the most, and there is GOOD reason for it! Let’s start with the venue itself! It is gorgeous! You can get married in the gorgeous grotto, out on the lawn, or their cozy indoor chapel. And honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of them! They also have three locations to do receptions inside. The two that we’ve shot in are the Lady Glenn East Ballroom, and the Cadet West Ballroom. Lady Glenn is much bigger and has two levels for your guests to sit. We LOVE going up to the second level to shoot through the bistro lights for the first dance! It also has a stage for your DJ so they are not taking up any sitting areas. And we like to stash all of our gear up there too! That way it’s out of the way, and not an eyesore. Cadet West is a bit smaller, but we LOVE the big bay window and the gorgeous columns inside! It is SO romantic and classic in there, and you can literally do anything with that space! They’ve recently added bistro lights to this ballroom as well, and we must say…it makes a wonderful difference! But even more than how gorgeous this venue is, we LOVE the staff! It is so hard to find people who work not only hard, but also smart. The folks at Nazareth Hall have their processes down to an absolute science and are extremely efficient. You get your own personal hostess the day of your wedding to help with anything you need, and they’ll bring you snacks and champagne while you get ready! Have a sparkler exit planned? No problem. They know EXACTLY how to execute it so everyone’s sparkler’s don’t burn out at totally different times. And the food is INCREDIBLE. Sometimes we have dreams about the pretzel crusted chicken. <3
The Toledo Zoo
We have only recently had a chance to shoot here, but oh my word…we can’t WAIT to go back! We don’t know about you guys, but when we thought of a wedding at the zoo, we thought about zebra print everything and taking pictures next to the giraffes. OH how wrong we were! Lol! In all reality, it is SO easy to have a wonderful, black tie wedding at the zoo with NO animal print in sight and so many gorgeous locations to take pictures! When we shot there, the ceremony was held in the gardens next to the butterfly house. Did you all know that thing was back there? We’re zoo members, and we literally NEVER knew that gorgeous labyrinth existed! It is so beautiful, it really doesn’t require a lot of extra decorating! The reception was in the Museum of Science, though I’ve heard people can have their ceremonies at the Pavilion as well. The decor in the Museum of Science was BREATHTAKING…we couldn’t believe how well that space translated to a wedding! And though we’ve never shot a reception in the Pavilion, we can easily see that space being transformed into something gorgeous. It’s really a blank slate! And Jenn the activity coordinator is just a gem. She was so amazing to work with and really worked so hard for the couple to make sure everything was set up at the times they needed so the couple didn’t have to worry about a thing. And again. The food was amazing.
This one is a bit of a trek since it’s all the way in Port Clinton, but we promise it’s worth it! This is another venue that has several options for spaces for your ceremony and reception. Just like Nazareth Hall, you can have an indoor OR outdoor ceremony, and you can’t go wrong with either! They have two lawn spaces outdoors to have your ceremony at. One has a white trellis, and the other is in front of a bunch of wine barrels. And the indoor location? Are you guys ready for this??? IT’S A WINE CELLAR! It’s SO incredible, friends! They have lights wrapped in tool that is draped so gorgeously from the stone walls and ceiling! We love that space so much, that we decided to have Stephanie’s grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary party down there! And that’s the best part about that space in the cellar. It is so versatile! You can utilize it for a small reception as well! The other two reception locations are up in the Loft where there is a lot of nice natural light, and outside under the tent. We LOVE tent receptions because they are nice and breezy, and you can use fabric and lights to make the space whatever you want it to be! And with having your wedding at a winery, you KNOW the wine selection is going to be amazing!
The Toledo Club
If you love the old world feel and a super formal dining experience, THIS friends, is the place for you! Every room is more gorgeous than the next. It gives the feel of an estate wedding, and you can do your ceremony AND reception here! If you’re wanting a lot of outdoor portraits, we would have to travel to somewhere close by, but the indoor options are gorgeous as well! Every single corner of this place is etched in history and is so gorgeous. You seriously can’t go wrong!
Country and rustic wedding aficionados, this is for you! This place LITERALLY used to be a horse stable, but they’ve turned it into a gorgeous venue! You can have your ceremony outside almost ANYWHERE on the grounds, and they just built a big pergola last year that any of their couples can utilize! They have acres of land to utilize for pictures! And if you don’t want to be bound to a specific menu, then that is perfect, because they allow you to bring in whatever outside catering you want. And the reception location? It’s PERFECT. It is huge, so whether you’re having an intimate gathering or a huge affair, they can accommodate you. They even have huge fans for the summer months and space heaters for the winter. The inside is rustic enough for country weddings, but modern enough if you want to make it a little more formal. It really is the perfect balance! And you can’t beat those gorgeous barn doors and the lights hanging above the patio!
Stone Ridge Country Club
If you’re looking for a country club wedding, look no further! You will NOT find a more wonderful location than this country club in Bowling Green. You can have your ceremony out on the green (that goes on forEVER!), and the reception inside in the banquet facility which is so gorgeous, you guys. It is a wonderful ivory color inside that is neutral and gorgeous, and so perfect for a classic wedding! And Kara and her staff are second to none. Everything flows so smoothly, and the space can hold so many people!
Up next, we’re going to talk about a couple of locations that we haven’t had a chance to shoot at yet, but we have some weddings there later this year. And we are SO excited about it! The interaction we’ve had with these venues so far has been nothing but incredible, and we can’t wait to have some awesome pictures from these wonderful places!
The Oliver House
Up until recently, The Oliver House has only been able to host smaller functions, but now, they’ve opened up their functioning warehouse to host larger receptions! And we cannot even begin to explain how happy we are! If you’re looking for a super industrial location to have a modern wedding, definitely give them a call! We LOVE the idea of things that mix together that seem like they shouldn’t fit. Grungy industrialism mixed with gorgeous linens? Um…yes please! And the interaction we’ve had with Maureen so far, has just been so wonderful. We’re really confident that your wedding day is in GOOD hands with her!
Scarlet Oaks Estate
Oh friends…we cannot BEGIN to explain how impatient we are to shoot here! We are HATING that we have to wait until November, but are loving that they are the ones who jumped on board with us for the Military Wedding Giveaway! First of all, the estate house is gorgeous and it the perfect location for you to get ready! The bridal suite is a gorgeous blush color and they even have cute hangers and places to hang and photograph the dress! But the thoughtfulness doesn’t stop there. They also have a gorgeous room for you two to spend your first night as husband and wife, and a few other rooms for your family to stay so you can have brunch (that they will help prepare!) the next morning in the humongous kitchen and open the presents that they will take to the estate house for you. It’s also a wonderful area to have your cocktail hour. They have several outdoor locations to have your ceremony, and an adorable rustic barn that will serve as an amazing reception venue. We can’t wait to see it all dressed up! Katie and Bridget have been working so hard to make this place look incredible!
