We really feel like the new Mr. & Mrs. Johnston are a part of our family! We met Erin a couple of years ago. She was in the bridal party for her beautiful friends Jessica & Kyle. We knew we liked her the moment we met her, and when she and Corey got a hold of us to tell us they were getting married, we couldn’t have been more excited! We had them over to our house for dinner, and when they talked and played with our kids like they were old friends, we knew we needed more of them in our life. <3 We INSTANTLY knew that these two were not only amazing individuals, but they were so incredible together! And we could tell that they were going to make amazing parents. Which was a good thing. Because shortly after that, they shared with us that they were expecting. 😉
Yep, that’s right! This amazingly gorgeous bride that you are about to see below is already halfway through her pregnancy! Trust us, we couldn’t believe how amazing she looked either! And for all you mama’s out there, you know what that means….time to find out the sex of the baby! This is where things got extra fun. We’ll explain in a moment. 😉
When we got to the church that day, we went straight up and talked to Erin as she was getting her hair and makeup finished up. She already looked so stunning! As soon as she was done she gave us what she considered to be more proper hugs. She was also a little jittery because things were running just a touch behind. We hugged her again and assured her that we included lots of cushion time in our timeline and we would get everything that was important to her! She immediately sighed a huge sigh of relief and was ready to get things going! We LOVE it when our couples choose to share first looks, and these two wanted to do this amazing, private tradition before the ceremony. If Erin had a theme that she kept telling everyone over and over again, it was, “No tears! No crying!” and even though we’re positive they came close during the first look, they were just so happy to be with one another and it showed in the portraits that followed. 🙂 And even though it was literally FREEZING, everyone was so tough and amazingly stuck it out through the frigid temperatures and crazy wind! You’d never know they were so cold, because they’re all so genuinely happy for these two.
The ceremony was beautiful, and sweet. We teared up a bit when in their vows they talked about raising a family together!
After the ceremony was when we got to have some real fun. 😉 You see, Erin emailed us last week just a few short days before their wedding and told us she had a fun idea for a gender reveal to the rest of their families. No one knew the sex yet so she had this great idea to do a big family picture. Kent took the picture while Stephanie helped direct all the family members where to stand. Then she said a little something like this: “Ok, everyone! We normally don’t count to three for pictures, but since there are so many of you, we just want to make sure we get all open eyes and all eyes on Kent! So everyone direct your eyes right up to him. I’m going to count to three and at the end, I want you all to say….cheese? No not cheese, that’s lame. Instead of cheese, we’ll do this. I’ll say, ‘one, two, three’ and you guys can all say, ‘It’s a girl!'”
We normally don’t include many family pictures on our blogs.
But you have GOT to see these! 😉
When we got to the Clazel, Cat, John, and the rest of the crew were doing an amazing job as usual, and the food was to die for! The party was so much fun and everyone kept dancing the night away. They even got Stephanie on the floor a couple of times. 😉
Congratulations Corey & Erin! We’re so happy for you both and hope you’re having an amazing time in D.C.!
