We can say with total and complete confidence that we have never been hired by the mother of the bride before! Oh sure, couples’ parents help pay for certain things, and sometimes photography is one of those things, but we never actually met Allick and Layal in person before we were hired…much less emailed or talked on the phone! Those of you who know us know this is a very unique situation for us because we LOVE connecting with our couples. And while we never met with them before we made everything official, it was very obvious to us that ALL of us were in very good hands with Cassie, Layal’s mom! We have never seen a mother and daughter so close! They are quite literally best friends, and Layal completely trusted her mom to plan their wedding for her since she and Layal live out of state. In fact, the very first time we saw Layal was on an iPad that Cassie was carrying around to a bridal show! THAT is amazing!
Spending this last Saturday with Allick and Layal made us so sad that we didn’t have a chance to get to know this amazing couple better. From the time we walked in we were just met with so much love and excitement…it literally felt like we were a part of the family! Layal and her girls were excitedly getting ready in their adorable matching robes, Cassie and the planners were putting their finishing touches on things, the most AMAZING ball gown was hanging from the chandelier in the middle of the room, and even though the atmosphere was full of excitement and wedding day jitters, it was also extremely relaxed.
The moment Layal put her wedding dress on though, was one to remember! Let’s just talk about the fact that this dress can literally stand up on its own. It is literally a giant cupcake made out of tulle and crystals! At least it made stepping into it a bit easier. 😉 Once she did, the room stood absolutely still. Everyone was literally holding their breath. Either that, or Layal just took all of our breath away! And can we just talk about the moment when Layal and Allick decided to “meet” around a partition to exchange gifts??? It was heartwarming and really quite emotional. We didn’t know people could giggle and cry so much at the same time! As precious as the looks on their faces were in that moment, it didn’t compare one bit to Allick’s reaction when he saw his gorgeous bride walking down the aisle! The entire ceremony was so wonderful. The officiant had us giggling the entire time AND taught us a few words in Arabic!
And then it was time for the party…and boy did they party! Drums, chairs, dancing, jumping…the reception was so jam packed full of energy and fun! And these two deserve an amazing celebration because they are such wonderful people!
Congratulations Allick & Layal! We hope you’re having a fantastic time on your honeymoon and travel back safely!
